Peppers

Tiny white spots on pepper leaves.

I am a newbie to gardening and this is my first time growing peppers. I see these strange white spots on my pepper leaves. These spots can’t be wiped off and aren’t bumpy to touch. Should I be worried? How can I fix this?

I gave a foliar spray of neem oil and I bottom water my plants when leaves are droopy. I live in a tropical climate and with very high humidity.

If they are kinda a crystallized texture it is edema. Usual cause is overwatering. The leaves will not return to normal, but you can watch your watering and prevent it from happening further. Edema in ELI5 terms is swelling or exploding plant cells from over saturation. Also is not lethal to the plant unless it gets very severe. Just alter your watering and your pepp will be fine 🙂

yo it might be pollen, any flowers open up lately? Also, does it wipe away? Check for bugs underneath the leaves

If it is not pollen it could be spider mite damage. When they first infect a plant, they look like those dots. One thing i didnt know about neem is make sure you dont spray and leave plant in direct sunlight. It can burn the leaves. Spray at night and keep in shade for a day. I made the mistake a while ago and all my leaves burned. Good luck.
