Easy Punjabi Style Kala Chana Recipe!



▶️ INGREDIENTS:
3 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
½ Tsp Red Chili Powder
1 Tsp Chana Masala Powder
2 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 Medium Chopped Onion
2 Medium Chopped Tomato
½ Small Finely Minced Green Chili
¾ Cup Washed and Soaked Overnight Kala Chana
2 ½ Cups Water
Handful of Chopped Cilantro

▶️ METHOD:
1. Wash and soak the kala chana overnight.

2. Turn on the Instant Pot to SAUTE mode low. Let it warm up until the HOT setting appears. Then add the oil and let it warm up.

3. Add the cumin seeds and allow them to pop for about 30 seconds.

4. Add the onions, turmeric powder, red chili powder, green chili, and ginger garlic paste and stir to combine. Cover with a lid while stirring occasionally until onions are soft and translucent, and oil has come out.

5. Add in the tomatoes and salt and stir to combine. Cover with a lid while stirring occasionally until tomatoes have turned into a puree and oil has come out.

6. Select CANCEL on the Instant Pot and add in the kala chana and water. Stir to combine.

7. Place the lid on the Instant Pot and close the vent. Then select PRESSURE COOK to HIGH pressure and NORMAL. Set the timer to 40 minutes.

8. Once done, select CANCEL and manually release the steam by opening the vent and then remove the lid.

9. Turn on the Instant Pot to SAUTE mode medium. Add in the chana masala powder and stir to combine. Let the oil come out while stirring occasionally (about 5 to 10 minutes).

10. Lastly, select CANCEL on the Instant Pot and add in the cilantro. Stir to combine.
